How to pass Google Play closed testing quickly and safely
2026-06-23
The main steps
- Create a closed testing track in Play Console and get the opt-in link.
- Add the tester email list (or a Google Group) to the track.
- Have testers opt in via the link and install the app on real devices.
- Track to keep at least 12 people opted in continuously for 14 days.
- Once eligible, double-check in Play Console then click Apply for production.
Tips to avoid mid-way drop-offs
Start with a buffer (e.g. 14 testers instead of 12) so a drop or two still keeps you above the threshold. Remind testers to check in daily, and spot early anyone showing signs of going silent so you can replace them in time.
Do not trust 100% approval promises
Hitting 12 × 14 days is necessary but not sufficient. Google still reviews app quality, policy and account history. Anyone guaranteeing approval is overstating — choose a service that is transparent about the numbers.
Need 12 testers × 14 days without doing it all yourself? Release Pilot coordinates real testers and tracks it for you.
